When I started at Perch, this was one of the first sites I was introduced to. It was a large bus transit site for the Little Rock area. It showed information on the routes, service, and any alerts. It also had tools to plan trips, integrating 3rd party GTFS APIs and also Google Maps.

What I did

When I came on with Perch, there was a major design overhaul on the entire site. Over the years I also added new fucntionality and phases to the design. I rebuilt the Trip Planner functionality multiple times as different APIs were used by their team, and different needs came up.

E-Commerce

This site allows tickets to be purchased on the site itself, and also ties in with a bank to handle different pass purchases. This involved a lot of tying into third-parties and making sure everything worked well. It was also important to keep the site PCI compliant.

What I Learned

This site served many users and because it was governmen-related, we had to go a bit above and beyond for security, and compliance. Also if there was an issue, we needed to be ready to jump in and take a look. I learned a lot working on this site, and am excited to see where it goes in the future.

Outcome

This site and its functionality has been used for over a decade!
